Vanessa Ojeda kicked off her summer youth employment program with an internship at A New Way of Life Charity Foundation.
BHI believes that our residents deserve access to opportunity. Through our Watts/LA WorkSource Center, Vanessa Ojeda, currently attending East Los Angeles College, joined our Summer Youth Employment Program where she interned at A New Way of Life Foundation, a service provider to the incarcerated population.
Vanessa’s hard work and positive attitude led to a job offer as an Office Associate. “I actually learned a lot: how to build a resume, the importance of life planning, building short term and long-term goals. I also learned how to communicate with an employer, and the importance in coming to work early, being dependable, and just building new skills.”
Vanessa is committed to a career in nursing, and working with A New Way of Life fits well with her plans. She believes that as incarceration services evolve, people will need to be “more caring, and culturally sensitive… that’s one of the most important things any Healthcare professional should be…”
BHI is working hard to ensure that people like Vanessa can fulfill their dreams.
